Varsity Softball

Today’s softball game was definitely the most exciting one we've played so far this season. In the first inning, we scored first and started strong with two runs in the first inning. After that, however, the other team started hitting and we made some crucial mental errors. Before we knew it, the score was 7-3 and we were down. However, despite the score and the early mistakes that were made, we still held our heads high for a great comeback. We ended up winning 9-8 and I am very proud of our team for never giving up. When we have gotten in situations like this in past years, we'd get behind and then give up. From the second that the other team's score exceeded ours, the game was over. However, this year we have a different team with a different outlook. We got into many sticky situations and there were multiple times when Snohomish had the bases loaded when the score was 9-8. We got through it though, everyone came together in the clutch moments and we did what needed to be done. I think every one of us who played tonight was reminded of the lesson that even when times are difficult, you should never give up. We didn't give up and it certainly paid off. Now, we have to get ready to face Monroe on Monday. With them, there will be no time for the early mental errors that we had tonight. After tonight's comeback though, I know that we can do just about anything.

Our coach recently found out that she has breast cancer, and she has had to miss a few days already. She had to miss today as well, for a funeral, but we said before the game that this game, this season was for her. I can't wait to see her tomorrow because I know she will be so proud of our efforts tonight. And for her sake, I hope we can keep winning, and finally make it to districts.
