Your First Official Posts

One of the many themes that play out in Beowulf is the idea of fate (wyrd). To what extent do you believe in a controlling force that we humans do not have the power to control or bend to our wills? Is there anything in life that is fated to happen? Romance? Death? Or do we set a path for ourselves?
Remember, your writing should grow out of thinking prior to the post. Style, content, and grammar are all important--the world is reading.

While there are people in the world who believe that theirlife is completely predetermined from birth, and there are others who feel that they are in complete control of every aspect of their life, I fall somewhere in the middle of these two extremes. I like to believe that I can make a difference in my own life. If my life starts heading in a direction that i dont want it to go in, I truly believe that I have the power to make the necessary changes. If every person's life was predetermined, life simply wouldn't be worth living. You could make all of the "bad choices" that you wanted and it wouldn't make a diference because no matter what you do you will always be destined to the same outcome. However, there are some parts of life that i feel are destined to happen, whether we want them to or not. Basically, I guess I am just trying to say that I feel that i do have control of my life, but in some cases, things will just have a way of working themselves out and what is supposed to happen will find a way of happening.
